I am a second-generation Korean who has been blessed with a loving and supportive family. My parents have taught me the importance of education, family, and values, as they have guided me and shaped the person who I am today.

Many of you knew my father, Dr. Chester Har, who was an integral part of my campaign. On February 28, 2008, I lost my father to pancreatic cancer. Despite battling cancer and the painful treatments he had to endure, many of you saw him signwaving with me everyday or got to meet him when he was walking my dog in the park. My father was truly a great source of inspiration to me as he always provided me with encouragement, guidance and support in whatever I did, including running for office.

While it will be difficult to get through this election without my father as part of the team, I am so fortunate that he was able to see me get elected to office. My mother, Katherine, and my brother, Lawrence, also miss my father sorely but we know he is now in a better place watching over us.
